Some writing, math and foreign language courses require a placement exam. Please refer to the additional notes column on the list of recommended courses for information about which courses require an exam.

These tests are designed to provide information about your skills in language and/or mathematics. The test results will be used, along with other information, to place you in the courses and sections appropriate to your level of preparation. It is important that you take the tests seriously and that you perform to the best of your abilities.

Placement testing for math, English, and some foreign languages will be conducted online via Sakai, the web-based Rutgers courseware system. Tests for French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Latin, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, and Russian are available online now.
